Waste Collection Delays - County of Simcoe

Waste Collection Delays - County of Simcoe
Posted on 01/02/2018

Please see the statement below jointly issued by the County of Simcoe and Waste Connections of Canada.

The County of Simcoe and Waste Connections of Canada, the County’s contracted curbside waste collection service provider, jointly apologize for recent waste collection delays.  Snow squalls, blowing snow and ongoing extreme cold temperatures over the past week
have combined to significantly impact our ability to collect waste at all locations on the normal times.  The large volumes of holiday waste are affecting the ability to catch up on locations missed due to the weather.  The severe cold negatively impacts the first generation compressed natural gas engines, limiting the number of trucks able to make collections and impacts the health and safety of collection crews operating in these extreme cold temperatures.

Please continue to place your waste materials out for collection on your scheduled day (one day later due to the New Years’ holiday this week January 1-6th) and leave out until 7:00pm as crews are working late in an effort to catch up.  For those missed last week there will be leniency on garbage bag limits. Thank you for your patience.”
