Tax Information

Billing and Due Dates

Tax Bills are issued twice each year.

Interim Tax Billing

The first bill or "Interim Tax Bill" is issued in early February and is based on 50% of the previous year's taxes. This bill is payable in two equal instalments due on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 and Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Final Tax Billing

The Final Tax Bills  are issued in late June.  They are payable in two equal instalments due on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 and Wednesday September 20, 2017.

Supplemental Tax Billing

If you have just purchased a newly constructed home or made any improvements or additions to your property, you may receive a supplemental tax bill for the increase in assessed value. The Supplemental Bill is in addition to what may have been previously billed on the property, even if the amounts are not yet due. Any amounts not paid by the due dates indicated on the bills will be subject to penalty/interest at a rate of 1.25% per month, on the first day of each month.

Legislation allows MPAC to assess a property for the current year and up to two previous years, retroactive to the date of substantial completion or occupancy, whichever comes first.  You will receive a notice from MPAC indicating the reason, date and additional assessment value before receiving a bill from the Township.  The notice and billing may occur in the year of the improvement, or any time within the following two calendar years.  If you have any questions regarding the assessed value, please contact MPAC.

Calculation and Rates

Your property taxes are determined by multiplying the Current Value or "Assessment" of your property by the annual Tax Rate for the property type or "Property Class".

If you do not agree with the Current Value Assessment placed on your property, please contact the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

Payment Terms and Options

Tax payments are due on or before the due date and may be made by cash or cheque at the Township of Springwater Administration Centre, 2231 Nursery Road, Minesing ON, L9X 1A8  - Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (after hours drop box available), or by mail to:

Tax bills are also payable by telephone, web or personal banking through participating financial institutions or by pre-authorized payment (forms available on website or at Township Office).

Tax bills are issued to the assessed property owner. Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse an owner from payment, nor relieve him/her from any late penalty. If your property has been sold and you receive a tax bill, please return it to the Finance Department immediately, noting the name and address of the new owner [if known] or the name of the solicitor who acted on your behalf in the sale. If your tax bill is to be paid by your mortgage company or a third party on your behalf, please forward the bill to them immediately upon receipt. Tax bills can be sent directly to mortgage companies at their request.
