Building Services

Building Services oversees the issuance of building and pool enclosure permits. Additionally, it is responsible for overseeing the Township's Septic Re-Inspection Program.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING:

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Springwater will hold a Public Meeting at 6:30 PM on February 7, 2018 in the Council Chambers located at the Administration Centre at 2231 Nursery Road.

THE PURPOSE of the Public Meeting is to obtain public comments on a proposal to update Building Permit fees. A proposed fee increase will be based on an adjustments of existing fees established in Schedule “B” of by-law 2015-033 and Schedule “E” of by-law 2015-034 with Statistic Canada Construction Price Index records with some minor adjustments on certain fees. This meeting is being held pursuant to Section 7 of the, Building Code Act, 1992.  

A REPORT outlining the changes and the rationale for the increases will be available to the public at the Public Meeting on February 7, 2018, or online at www.springwater.ca.

ANY PERSON may attend the Public Meeting, and make oral and/or written submissions either in support of or in opposition to the proposed fee increase.

 IF YOU WISH to be notified of the adoption of the proposed fee increase, you must make a written request to the Clerk of the Township of Springwater at 2231 Nursery Road, Minesing, Ontario L9X 1A8.

Building Permit Regulations

A building permit is a means of regulating development in the community so that health, fire, structural and general safety standards to protect individuals and the community as a whole, are met. It is illegal to start work without a permit. Anyone who starts work without a building permit is in contravention of municipal by-law and the Building Code Act and is therefore subject to financial and legal consequences.

The municipal Building By-law incorporates rules, regulations and fee information regarding building permits.

Under the direction of the Chief Building Official, Building Services authorizes and regulates the issuance of Building Permits in compliance with the Ontario Building Code, as mended, Township By-laws and other municipal requirements.


Septic Re-Inspection Program

The Township of Springwater is undertaking a Septic Re-Inspection Program to ensure the safety of our lakes and drinking water is not compromised.  The current focus is on Orr Lake.
