Food Insecurity Presentation
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit provided a delegation to Council regarding food insecurity in the region and the role municipalities’ play. Through the presentation they provided a number of ways that municipalities could take action including; taking poverty into consideration when making local planning  decisions, creating a climate for entrepreneurship, attracting employers that provide higher paying jobs and support for a living wage.

Midhurst Union Cemetery Revitalization Project
Council has approved the Midhurst Union Cemetery Priority Development Master Plan created by Hilton Landmarks. In 2013, it was identified that the Midhurst Union Cemetery was nearing capacity. Since that time, the Township has worked with consultants to create a Development Plan and solicit feedback from the public to create additional plots and columbariums.  Phase 1 of the project will move forward in 2018 with the issuance of a tender.

Tenders Awarded
Comco Canada Ltd. was awarded the tender to relocate the fuel lines and replace the tank at the Del Trend Pumphouse at a cost of $15,845 plus HST.

Comco Canada Ltd. will also be completing upgrades to the fuel system at Yard 2 at a cost of $103,371 excluding HST.

Pennorth Group Ltd. was awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Albert Street East, Phase 1 at a cost of $1,689,415.75 including HST. Phase 1 will include roadwork, storm sewers, watermain work and sidewalks. 

SRM Architects Inc. was awarded the contract to begin Phase 2 of the Administration Centre Lower Level Space Accommodation. The total cost of the project is estimated at $230,00.00. The design will include additional offices and open office space to service the Township’s current and future staffing requirements. 

Pat LaLonde Fencing was awarded the contract for the fencing of Tree Nursery Sports Park Fencing at a cost of $77,306.66 plus HST.
