Springwater Welcomes New Director of Fire & Emergency Services

Springwater Township / September 27, 2016 –  The Township of Springwater and Springwater Fire & Emergency Services are pleased to announce the hiring of Ian Gavet as the new Director of Fire & Emergency Services.

“Springwater welcomes Ian as the new Director of Fire and Emergency Services“, says Mayor Bill French. “His impressive resume and straightforward leadership style made him the ideal candidate to head up Springwater Fire and Emergency Services.”

Mr. Gavet has been a firefighter for over 16 years and has gained valuable firefighting experience and training throughout Canada and the United Kingdom. He was also appointed as Contract Fire Chief/ Division Fire Chief and Fire Prevention Officer while serving the Canadian Armed Forces in Kandahar, Afghanistan. More recently he has held the position of Fire Chief for the Northern Rockies in Fort Nelson, British Columbia and in the City of Miramichi in New Brunswick.

“The municipality embarked on an extensive recruiting process and interviewed a number of exceptional candidates for this position,” says Robert Brindley, Chief Administrative Officer. “The skills, experience and knowledge that Ian will bring to this role will ensure Springwater Fire & Emergency Services continues to proactively move forward in the provision of emergency services in our community.”

Mr. Gavet will begin his tenure with Springwater Fire & Emergency Services on October 2, 2016.

Springwater Fire & Emergency Services proudly serves a sub-urban community of over 18,000 people. The Director of Fire & Emergency Services leads the Department made up of over 90 volunteer firefighters operating out of four fire stations.
