Springwater Township / August 4, 2016 – Over 125 golfers came out to the Barrie Country Club on July 18 to hit the links and support the 10th Annual Springwater Swing – Charity Golf Tournament.

“This year’s tournament raised an amazing $26,000 for the Community Assistance Program and other worthwhile local initiatives,” says Mayor Bill French.  “This tournament is a collaboration between volunteers, staff, Council and the community. A special thank you to all of the sponsors and golfers who graciously support us year after year and make this tournament possible!”

“The money raised will stay in the community and a portion of the proceeds will be directed to the Community Assistance Program,” says Councillor Jack Hanna. “This program was established this year to provide financial assistance to the residents in our community who need it most.”

The Barrie County Club, located in Springwater Township, features a challenging 18 holes of golf.  Golfers enjoyed lunch, a delicious dinner and the popular Shop Springwater Showcase, where they selected a gift from local Springwater businesses. New this year was two exciting hole-in-one opportunities sponsored by Paul Sadlon Motors.  Golfers tested their skills for a chance to win a new car or $10,000. Although many participants came close, no lucky winner was able to claim a prize.

“The Springwater Swing provided a great day of golf, camaraderie and fun, all while supporting our local community,” Deputy Mayor Don Allen commented. “We are already planning for next year and look forward to another successful tournament.”

Premium sponsors for the tournament included: Platinum Sponsor, Geranium Corporation; Dinner Sponsor, Stonemanor Woods; Gold Sponsors, Ainley Group and Brampton Brick; Lunch Sponsor, Snow Valley Highlands; and Silver Sponsors, Barriston Law, Georgian Paving, Enbridge Gas Distribution and Weirfoulds.
