Springwater Township / July 21, 2016 – At 6:00 am on Thursday, July 21, 2016, Springwater Fire & Emergency Services responded to reports of a working structure fire on Flos Road 6.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the single family dwelling fully involved. Crews were met in the driveway by two individuals requiring medical attention and were transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. One occupant was further transferred to Sunnybrook Hospital for treatment of serious burns. As a result of the injuries, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted.
Four stations and 35 firefighters responded to the call. A mutual aid agreement was enacted with Clearview Fire to provide coverage. Simcoe County Paramedics were on scene assessing firefighters due to the high temperatures.
“Firefighters did a great job battling this fire, they fought through the intense heat today to bring the flames under control and prevent it from spreading” says Interim Fire Chief Colin Shewell. “Thank you to our partners at the OPP, Simcoe County Paramedics, Clearview Fire, Simcoe County Emergency Management and the Red Cross for working together today to ensure the wellbeing of everyone involved.”
The residence is considered a complete loss as a result of the damage. Red Cross and Simcoe County Emergency Management have been contacted to provide assistance to the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
