Springwater Township / May 25, 2016 - At approximately 3:00 am on May 25, 2016, Springwater Fire & Emergency Services responded to a fully involved barn fire on Horseshoe Valley Road West.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, however a structural collapse was declared. There were no animals in the barn at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. A total of three stations and twenty-six (26) Firefighters responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at approximately $60,000.
“The fast response from our Firefighters was instrumental in knocking down the fire quickly to avoid additional damage to the property,” says Fire Chief Tony Van Dam. “By using their knowledge of firefighting techniques, our Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to an additional outbuilding on the property.”
