Parks and Trails Information


The Township maintains 33 developed parks, 6 areas of undeveloped parkland and 7 road sites. Another 4 parks are currently under development including park sites in the Hendrie Ridge,  Huronia Equestrian Estates, Pinehill Estates, and Crystal Waters.  The Township operates soccer fields at the 75 acre Nursery Sports Park.   Heritage Park, along the banks of the Wye River in Elmvale features an amphitheatre, pavilion and nature trails. The Township Park facilities include:

  • 19 ball diamonds (8 on municipal property & 11 school diamonds)
  • 9 outdoor rinks/sports pads
  • 6 nature trails, including North Simcoe Rail Trail
  • 6 tennis courts

North Simcoe Rail Trail
The North Simcoe Rail Trail runs through the heart of Springwater from the edge of the Minesing Swamp to the Flos/Tiny Townline, just north of Elmvale. This all-season trail is part of the TransCanada Trail which includes Heritage Park in Elmvale.

Hunter Russell Nature Trail
The Hunter Russell Nature trail winds along Willow Creek in Midhurst from the corner of Doran Road and Belmont to Cowdray Park.

Nine Mile Portage Recreational Trail
Kempenfelt Bay to Fort Willow.
