The following is a joint media release from the County of Simcoe and the Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board.

Midhurst/January 27, 2016 –
The County of Simcoe, in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board (SMWDB) and Employment Ontario service providers, is hosting the first ever On-line Job Fair in Simcoe County and Muskoka to connect employers to local job seekers. This free virtual hiring event will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Organizers have received tremendous interest to date, with more than 1,700 registered job seekers and more than 60 employers offering hundreds of local employment opportunities. Registration will remain open until February 1, 2016. Sign up today at http://www.jobfairsimcoemuskoka.ca/

“Our strong registration numbers indicate that we’ve tapped into a great value-added service to our businesses and residents,” said Warden Gerry Marshall. “It’s clear that Simcoe County offers tremendous opportunity and we’re proudly taking a more active role in creating jobs and connecting our employers with the skilled labour they need to compete in a global economy.”

Susan Laycock, executive director to SMWDB shared “Participation has been substantial and immediate. The Virtual Job Fair site is rendered in a very realistic 3-D environment, making it an easy and convenient way for companies and local job seekers to network and interact in real time. Employers and job seekers receive instructions before the event on the easy-to-use software, and will also receive technical support on the day of the event.”

Charlotte Parliament, Co-Chair of SMWDB shared “We continue to encourage job seekers and employers in the County of Simcoe and the District of Muskoka to take advantage of this free opportunity to expand their strategies. Job seekers will have no need to leave their home and employers will be able to actively recruit from a customized on-line job booth branded with their logo - without having to spend money and be off-site of their business.”
