Springwater Township Spreading Cheer

Springwater Township Spreading Cheer

Mayor surrounded by volunteers holding large chequeSpringwater Township / December 18, 2015 – The Elmvale Food Bank received a much needed donation this week as a result of the Springwater Swing – The 9th Annual Golf Tournament. The event, held annually in August, raises funds to support initiatives, events and organizations in the local community.

The Elmvale Food Bank was the first recipient of funds from this year’s tournament and received a $2,500 cheque to support its continued operation.  The Community Assistance Program (CAP) Committee, a subcommittee of Council, has been formed to determine how to best distribute the remaining funds from the golf tournament.

“The Elmvale & District Food Bank very much appreciates the ongoing support of Springwater Township, generously providing us with accommodation in the Community Hall and for the kind cash donation from funds raised at the golf tournament,” said John Potts, Elmvale Food Bank. “This donation will help us keep our shelves stocked so we can continue to serve the community.”

“The Elmvale Food Bank is a very deserving recipient of this donation and we appreciate all that they do for the people in our community,” says Mayor Bill French. “The Springwater Swing raised approximately $15,000 this year and we look forward to continuing to spread the cheer to other worthy organizations in Springwater Township.”
