Springwater Township / May 7, 2014 - Mayor Collins officially welcomed South Georgian Bay Community Health Centres (SGBCHC) to Springwater at a Grand Re-Opening Ceremony for the Springwater Health Services Centre on May 7, 2014.
The Centre has been operated by a primary care Nurse Practitioner since January 29, 2014 and has registered almost 20 new patients since opening. The clinic operates on Wednesdays in the Springwater Health Services Centre at 35 Queen St. W. in Elmvale. Patients must register with the clinic and will have access to a Nurse Practitioner, and will also have access to an entire health team at the Wasaga Beach location.
As demand for services grows at the Centre, the SGBCHC will be evaluating additional services for the community. Elmvale clients can access the following services at the Wasaga Beach location: Diabetes Educator, Dietitian, Social Worker, Mental Health & Addictions Counsellor, Chronic Disease/Self-Management Educator, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapy, Health Promotion, Youth Service Coordinator and Consulting Physicians.
In addition to operating the clinic at the Springwater Health Services Centre, the SGBCHC has formed a partnership with Elmvale District High School and offers onsite outreach and health services to students from the community.
“The Township is elated to celebrate this Grand Re-opening today and introduce the team from the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre,” says Mayor Collins. “This partnership is bringing primary health care back to our residents, and not only do they have access to a Nurse Practitioner but they have access to an entire health care team! Many people don’t know that a Nurse Practitioner can provide 90% of the services a doctor can. The quality of care our residents are able to receive is exceptional and we look forward to working with the team to expand their services in Elmvale. ”
“We are so pleased to join the community. This partnership has been a part of our strategic plan for some time. We look forward to growing within the community and serving the residents,” says Albert Henriques, Executive Director of the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre.
