Nomination Period
Nomination forms may be filed by candidates prior to Nomination Day, at any time when the Clerk’s Office is open (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)

Nomination Day - Friday, July 27, 2018
Last day for filing nominations.  Nomination forms filed on this date may only be filed between the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Registered Third Party Filing Period
An individual, corporation or trade union that conducts advertising related to the 2018 Municipal Election must file as a Registered Third Party.

Monday, December 31, 2018
Campaign Period
The campaign period begins once a candidate has filed a nomination form, and ends on December 31, 2018.

Certification of Nomination Forms
The Clerk shall certify filed nomination forms by 4:00 pm.

Monday, July 30, 2018 Acclamations
If, at 4:00 pm on the Monday following Nomination Day, the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as or less than the number to be elected, the Clerk shall immediately declare the candidate or candidates elected by acclamation.

Voters’ List
The Clerk shall make the preliminary list of voters available for election purposes only.

Revision – Application to Add, Remove or Correct One’s Own Name
An individual may make application to the Clerk requesting that their name be added, removed or corrected.  The application must be approved by the Clerk or their designate.

The date and time advance voting for telephone and internet voting begin. 
Monday, October 22, 2018 Voting Day
Voting is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm for paper ballots.  Telephone and internet voting will close at 8:00 pm.  Traditionally, unofficial election results are released after 8:00 pm. 
Saturday, December 1, 2018 to Monday, November 14, 2022 Term of Council
The length of time the elected officials serve on Council. 

Municipal Elections are governed by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Important changes have been made to the Municipal Elections Act for the 2018 Municipal Election, which includes the shortened Nomination Period and the addition of Registered Third Parties.
